In fact, governing bodies have found an entirely new way to combat climate change: solving it via Zoom meetings.
"How Horses Fly Carbon Neutral in the Future?"
"The Eco-Friendly Horse Transport System We’ll Definitely Invent Next Year!"
"Best Practices for Riding Your Horse Into a Carbon-Free Future!"

Join us to learn best practices, discover the “latest developments,” and be part of the “green revolution” (or at least be seen talking about it on a webinar). Each session promises transformative insights, but only if you consider endless slides and vague promises of “future initiatives” to be truly transformative.
The titles alone are enough to make anyone feel like a change is coming—but alas, the content is a different story.
Each session follows the same comforting script: an enthusiastic opening speech, a panel of experts who politely nod at each other’s ideas, and a closing statement about the importance of "ongoing dialogue."
Attendees—ranging from earnest officials to equestrians who registered in a fit of guilt—soon fall into a familiar pattern. The PowerPoint slides roll out, the moderator asks pre-approved questions, and within minutes, most participants have either muted themselves to answer emails or slipped into a deep, contemplative haze, wondering how they ended up in this virtual purgatory.
Meanwhile, actual sustainability challenges—manure management, transportation emissions, overgrazed land—remain untouched, buried under layers of buzzwords and promises for "future initiatives."
At this point, the most sustainable thing about equestrian sports might just be the webinars themselves: zero emissions, zero waste, and, conveniently, zero tangible action.
